James joined 3d Lacrosse as a Manager with 3d Georgia working in the greater Atlanta area in June, 2018. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 2018, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in community entrepreneurship and a double minor in coaching and sports.

James was a close defender on the Catamounts Division I men’s lacrosse team for four seasons, leading the team as a captain during his junior and senior years. He started all but two of 62 games during the course of his career. He set the UVM career record for caused turnovers with 69 and finished sixth all-time in ground balls with 155.

As a senior in 2018, James helped the Catamounts to their best season in program history. The Catamounts finished the spring with the eighth best scoring defense in the nation. Vermont was voted into every major poll every week of the season and was ranked in the top 20 for eight consecutive weeks. James and his classmates finished with 32 wins in their career, the most of any to come through the program.

At the season’s end, James was honored by UVM Athletics as the Jeff Stone Memorial Award winner, recognizing him for exceptional contributions to community service and leadership as a senior. James also represented the men’s lacrosse team through his participation in the school’s student-advisory committee for four years.

Prior to Vermont, James attended The Governor’s Academy in Newbury, Massachusetts, where he was a standout multi-sport athlete. James was a member of the very first 3d New England travel team and, since heading to UVM, has been working with the Boston-based 3d New England staff during the summer.

In August 2020, James became the Director of 3d Georgia.

Coach David Closterman is from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and grew up playing lacrosse in the Philadelphia area. He played four years at the Academy of the New Church before continuing his career at the University of Vermont, where he was a five-year starting attackman and two-year captain. 

During his time as a Catamount, Coach Closterman helped lead the program to back-to-back America East Championships, including the first conference title in program history. He earned numerous individual accolades, including First Team All-Conference (2022, 2023), All-New England First Team (2021), America East Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie Team (2019), and Second Team All-Conference (2019). He also left a lasting mark on the Vermont record books, finishing second all-time in assists, fourth all-time in points, eighth all-time in goals, and becoming the first player in program history to record 100 goals and 100 assists in a career. 

Coach Closterman joined the 3d Georgia staff in June 2023 as a full-time manager and was promoted to Director of 3d Georgia in October 2025. He is the head coach of the 2028 Red team and is entering his third season at Milton High School, where he serves as the Director of Lacrosse Operations. 

He has an extensive background in box lacrosse and works closely with the Georgia Mud Dawgs, who are leading the charge in the Southeast as a premier box lacrosse program.

An expert coach and proven leader, Coach Closterman has coached at numerous national and regional events across the country, including the Youth Lacrosse World Series, Jr. PLL, Nations Best, The Circuit, and 3d National. He brings deep lacrosse knowledge, an unmatched passion for the game, and elite connections across the lacrosse landscape—driving growth, development, and exposure throughout the Southeast lacrosse space.

Spring Coaching Role: 

Milton High School

Tracy Morgan has been coaching lacrosse since 2010. She served as a long time coach and Commissioner of the Pope Junior program in Marietta GA and joined SoZo Lacrosse in 2018 as a coach and later became the High School Director. Tracy is USA Lacrosse Level 3 certified, currently serves as the Head Coach of Girls Lacrosse at Fellowship Christian School, and has her own business training middle school, high school and current collegiate players. Tracy Morgan is a lifelong coach of athletic performance across a variety of sports and levels. Her career began in Division I College sports At San Diego State, DIII UCSD and DI The University of Washington where she worked as a strength coach largely with Football and Olympic Sports. Her NFL combine training for graduating players looking to join the NFL garnered attention from IMG where she was hired as the Assistant Director of Performance. There she served athletes of all ages and all sports, and was at the forefront of the movement to address performance holistically and systematically. It was there that Tracy gained valuable experience working with professional athletes in football, baseball and tennis and established her love for athletic development by working with younger athletes. After leaving IMG, Tracy opened her own training and consulting business and that's where her focus has been for more than 20 years. She has worked with teams and organizations that include Nike, the Cleveland Indians, Jim Kelly Enterprises, Cybex and Physiotherapy Associates. Tracy credits her longevity and success in athletics to her commitment to coaching as a never ending pursuit of improved performance in her role as a leader.

Coach Hixon-Milks was born in Scottsdale, AZ but grew up for a majority of his life in Springboro, OH. He played four years of varsity hockey and lacrosse at Springboro High School before continuing his career at the storied Onondaga Community College and University at Albany.

During his time as a Lazer, Coach Sam helped lead OCC to a National Championship as an LSM with 3 goals, 49 groundballs, and 19 CTOs in 14 games played. Including a 1 goal, 7GB, and 3 CTO performance on Final Four weekend. He earned numerous accolades, including First Team All-Region (2019) and All-American Honors (2019). 

During his time at Albany Sam played in over 40 career games and covered some of the best players in the country playing against teams like Syracuse, Cornell, Maryland, Yale, and many more. In his final season Coach Sam had career highs by picking up 28 ground balls and recording 10 CTOs. 

Coach Sam joined the 3d Georgia staff in March 2023 as a full-time manager. He is the head coach of the 2029 Red team and is entering his second season at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, where he serves as the Director of Lacrosse. 

Coach Sam also has an extensive background playing and coaching box lacrosse and is the Director of our Georgia Mud Dawgs Box Lacrosse program as they lead the charge in the Southeast as a premier box lacrosse program.

Coach Sam also helps direct our King of the South events portfolio including the King of the South Box Championships and King of the South Fall Showcase. 

Coach Sam is an expert coach and leader. He has coached numerous national and regional events across the country, including the Lacrosse World Series Championships, Jr. PLL Master Coach, Nations Best, The Circuit, and 3d National.

Director of Lacrosse - Blessed Trinity Catholic HS

Coach Matt Shaffer is originally from Natick, MA. Coach Shaffer spent 4 years playing in the ISL at Tabor Academy in Marion, MA before spending 5 years at the University of Vermont as a goalie.

During his time as a Catamount, Coach Shaffer was a part of back-to-back America East Championships, including the first in the program's history. In 2023 Coach Shaffer finished the season ranked 7th in Division 1 for both Save Percentage (.553) and Goals Against Average (9.77) while earning Second Team All-Conference and leading Vermont to their highest win over a nationally ranked opponent (Boston University #14). 

Coach Shaffer joined the 3d Georgia Staff in May of 2025 as a full time manager. Coach Shaffer is the head coach of the 2030 Red team and serves as the Defensive Coordinator at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School. 

Coach Shaffer provides our staff with specialty knowledge of the goalie position and directly oversees the development and training of all 3d Georgia goalies, while also providing 3d Georgia goaltenders with guidance in recruiting and the mental side of playing goalie.

Coach Shaffer has an extensive history with coaching, starting in high school and has not stopped since. He has coached for numerous clubs and at many national and regional events. In the past having coached for, Top Gun Fighting Clams, Nations Best, Goaliesmith, The Goalie Workshop, and PLL Jr to name some. 

Coach Shaffer brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge, a deep love for the game, and a mindset to make players better every time he steps on the field to help grow the game in Georgia and the South as a whole

Spring Coaching Role:

Defensive Coordinator - Blessed Trinity Catholic HS

Coach Jeb Brenfleck is a Philadelphia native who grew up playing football and lacrosse in the area. He was a four-year varsity lacrosse player at the Academy of the New Church, earning U.S. Lacrosse All-American honors in 2019. His senior season was canceled due to COVID-19, after which he transitioned directly into his freshman year at Penn State University. 

Coach Brenfleck played four seasons of collegiate lacrosse at Penn State before completing a fifth year at High Point University, where he earned his MBA. Following his collegiate career, he traveled to Melbourne, Australia, where he played club lacrosse and contributed to the growth and development of the sport abroad.

During his time as a Nittany Lion, Coach Brenfleck helped lead the program to two NCAA Tournament appearances, a Big Ten regular-season championship, and a Final Four run in 2023. His collegiate career was highlighted by a goal against Duke during the Final Four run. He was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Week in 2022 after recording three goals and one assist in an upset victory over Yale. Throughout his college career, he played multiple offensive roles including attack, midfield, and man-up, finishing with 34 goals and 7 assists.

Coach Brenfleck joined the 3d Lacrosse staff in September 2025 as a full-time manager. He currently serves as the head coach of the 2032 Black and 2029 Black teams and is entering his first season as the offensive coordinator at Marietta High School. In addition to his club and high school roles, he has coached at national events including Nations Best and Jr. PLL. He brings five summers of coaching experience, a strong background in private instruction, and a player-first approach centered on skill development, offensive IQ, and long-term growth.

Marietta High School Offensive Coordinator

Peter Salit is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, and moved down to Georgia in 2007. He played high school lacrosse at Johns Creek High School, where he earned significant recognition as a 2x Captain, 2x All-American, 2x First Team All-State selection, and the 2018 Georgia Player of the Year. 

Following high school, Peter attended The Hill Academy in Ontario, Canada, competing against elite national and international talent. During this time, he notably scored twice in an exhibition game against Team USA at The Ohio State University. He continued his playing career at the University at Albany, contributing and leading at both attack and midfield. 

Throughout his career, Peter has consistently competed at the highest levels, regularly facing top lacrosse talent from across the country and demonstrating a strong ability to perform in high-pressure moments.

In addition to his role with 3d Georgia, Peter also serves as the Sports Operations Coordinator for the Northeast Region of 3STEP Sports.

Greg is from Dacula, Georgia where he has built his videography business from a young age. He started freelancing for 3D Georgia in 2021 as a sophomore in high school. Greg joins this season as Head of Content.
