2025 Shooters vs Stoppers

Sep 14, 2025

Shooters vs Stoppers Training is a high-impact, position-specific development experience designed for both boys and girls lacrosse players who are looking to elevate their game. This elite training format brings together shooters and goalies in a competitive, fast-paced environment focused on skill refinement, technical development, and live, game-like repetitions.

Players will receive high-volume, high-intensity reps with position-specific instruction rooted in years of collegiate and professional experience. Each session is carefully designed to maximize growth with an emphasis on real-time adjustments and individual feedback.

For Shooters (Attack & Midfield)

Work directly with elite coaches who specialize in developing top-level scorers across both the boys and girls games.

  • Coach Dave Clostermanone of the top shooting coaches in the southeast. A 5-year starter at the University of Vermont, and spent time with the Utah Archers in the PLL. Coach Dave brings elite technique, footwork breakdowns, and shooting mechanics to the table.
  • Coach Tracy Morgan – Current 3d Georgia Girls Director and Head Coach at Fellowship Christian Academy. Coach Tracy brings extensive knowledge of the women's game, breaking down the nuances of 8-meter shooting, deceptive fakes, quick releases, shooting off the dodge, and shooting under pressure. Her approach emphasizes precision, decision-making, and technique essential to be an elite scorer.
  • Boys and Girls will work through work through realistic game scenarios to help players refine their shot selection, improve accuracy, and build confidence in high-pressure scoring situations.

Shooters will build from technical breakdowns (empty cage reps) up to full-speed reps against live goalies, working on shot selection, release variation, finishing under pressure, and more.

For Goalies (Stoppers)

Train with Coach Matt Shaffer (UVM ‘23) and Coach Nick Floyd (Saint Joseph’s ‘24), two of the top emerging goalie coaches in the game, bringing recent Division I experience and a proven track record of developing elite-level netminders.

Goalie training will include:

  • Reaction speed & footwork
  • Arc/angle positioning and save technique (adjusted for both boys and girls styles)
  • Communication & clearing strategies
  • Handling pressure and mental preparation
  • Live reps vs shooters in game-speed situations
  • Girls goalies will work on 8-meter save techniques.

*Long poles looking to develop their offensive game are welcome*

This elite-level training is designed to simulate game pressure, improve consistency and confidence, and help athletes of both the boys and girls games prepare for the next level of competition.
